Matt Hrdlicka
Owner
Matt Hrdlicka’s journey in business spans everything from small, local St. Louis area businesses to iconic brands like Anheuser-Busch and Enterprise Rent-A-Car. In 2011, Matt and his wife Kara seized the chance to run their own company, leading to the birth of Excel Signs & Design. Matt enjoys family time with his wife and three children when not in the office or perfecting the sign-making craft. He’s been an integral part of his community, including devoting 30+ years to coaching various soccer teams. Yet, his true happy place is amongst the great outdoors, where you can find him simultaneously wielding a chainsaw and navigating his tractor throughout the family’s property.
Kara Hrdlicka
Owner
Kara Hrdlicka is a St. Louis native who now calls Jefferson County home. Along with being a devoted small business owner alongside her husband Matt, she relishes the fulfilling role of being a mother to three incredible children and two adorable dogs. Kara’s passion for learning is evident in her constant reading habits. Since Excel Signs’s inception, she’s been an integral part of the team, playing many roles. She currently shines as our graphic designer who delivers creative indoor and outdoor signage and awning designs that set our clients apart from their competition. Outside work, Kara finds solace in the great outdoors, especially while Matt drives his tractor around swinging a chainsaw, and delights in preparing grand feasts for her closest friends and cherished family.
Kara Neubauer
Creative Director
Kara has over 10 years experience in the graphic design field. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts with a Graphic Design concentrate as well as a Minor in Marketing. Prior to her start at Excel Sign, she worked for various companies, including a print shop, market research firm, and a non-profit. In addition to her full-time position, Kara runs her own freelance company where she works on a variety of design projects for individual clients, most often stationary and event experience design. In her free time, Kara loves spending time with her husband, son and two dogs. She enjoys socializing with family and friends, spending time outdoors and working on home renovation projects.
